Everything relies upon what an individual believes is ethically right or wrong. Individual morals is a class of theory that figures out what an individual accepts about profound quality, good and bad, and influences all everyday issues, including family, accounts, and connections (Wisegeek, n. d. ). Numerous rationalists contend that youngsters will figure out how to share, buckle down, and come clean in light of the fact that these activities can profit them. For example, if a youngster chooses to disrupt the norms of a game, the kid will make strife, and fabricate a boundary between his/her companions and themselves. In any case in the event that a kid chooses to comply with the guidelines, at that point that youngster will be glad, appreciate companionship, and will turn out to be nearer with his/her friends, profiting them. Business morals is not the same as close to home morals since business morals is the conduct that a business holds fast to its every day dealings with the world (Wisegeek, n. d. ). Contingent upon the business, morals can fluctuate on the grounds that in addition to the fact that this applies on how organizations cooperate with the world everywhere, yet additionally managing single clients one on one. International Students Preparing for Your I-20

International Students Preparing for Your I-20 You are in!  Give yourself a pat on the back for officially becoming an Illini. While the hardest part is behind you, you still have a couple more steps ahead.  Think of the I-20 process as the bridge that helps you reach your final destination. After accepting your admission offer, you are off to prepare for the I-20 process. You can take a look at last year’s detailed I-20 FAQ blog for a breadth of information about the topic. This year, I will provide a general walk-through of the process, talk about what documents are required, and offer some helpful tips from our current students to help alleviate any I-20 preparation stress. Let’s start with the I-20 application steps. Step 1: Accept your admission offer. You can do this from your myIllini account portal. Step 2: Submit an I-20 application. This also can be done through your myIllini account portal. Step 3: Make sure to upload the required documents to the I-20 application. You will need a valid copy of your passport in addition to an adequate financial statement. Step 4: Pay attention to deadlines. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will start to issue I-20s for our incoming fall transfer and freshman applicants starting March 1. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will not issue any I-20s after August 1. Remember that we are here to help! Contact our office if you have any issues. So what happens after you submit your I-20 application? Step 1: The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will make sure we have all the correct documents and will verify the provided information. We will contact you directly if we have a question. Step 2: The Office of Undergraduate Admissions needs 2 to 3 weeks to issue your I-20. Step 3:  After your I-20 is issued, we will send you an email so you can set up an account with eShipGlobal to have your I-20 mailed to you. Please do not set up an account before your I-20 is issued. This may cause a delay in the process. You may wonder: What is eShipGlobal? eShipGlobal is an express mailing service we use to mail out I-20s at the recipients expense. You will be required to set up an account with this service. Make sure to have the following information handy: Your UIN (found on your admitted checklist)Mailing address (this is where you want your I-20 shipped to) Valid email addressValid telephone number Credit card informationDepartment Contact: Select Office of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (if you select the wrong contact, this may delay mailing the I-20 to you) Step 4:  After you receive your I-20 form, you will need to prepare for your F-1 visa interview at the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate in your country of residence. I also encourage you to read the U.S. Department of State Student Visa Overview and a blog entry I wrote last year on F-1 visas. Ill leave you with some helpful tips and websites. The earlier you prepare for your I-20 application, the better. Delays can happen for several reasons.Make sure your financial documents are recent. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions does not accept any financial documents that are older than a year.If you are currently attending an accredited academic U.S. institution and are on an F-1 visa, you will need to contact us.You can always contact the U.S. embassy or consulate in your home country if you have any questions. Make sure to register for the Undergraduate International Student Orientation. We look forward to seeing you on campus soon! The Parthian Empire

Traditionally, the Parthian Empire (Arsacid Empire) lasted from 247 B.C. – A.D. 224. The starting date is the time of which the Parthians occupied the satrapy of the Seleucid Empire known as Parthia (modern Turkmenistan). The end date marks the start of the Sassanid Empire. The founder of the Parthian Empire is said to have been Arsaces of the tribe of the Parni (a semi-nomadic steppe people), for which reason the Parthian era is also referred to as the Arsacid. There is a debate over the founding date. The high date sets the founding between 261 and 246 B.C., while the low date sets the founding between c. 240/39 and c. 237 B.C. The Extent of the Empire While the Parthian Empire started as the Parthian satrapy, it expanded and diversified. Eventually, it extended from the Euphrates to the Indus Rivers, covering Iran, Iraq, and most of Afghanistan. Although it came to embrace most of the territory occupied by the Seleucid monarchs, the Parthians never conquered Syria. The capital of the Parthian Empire was originally Arsak, but it later moved to Ctesiphon. A Sassanid prince from Fars (Persis, in southern Iran), rebelled against the last Parthian king, the Arsacid Artabanus V, thereby starting the Sassanid era. Parthian Literature In Looking East from the Classical World: Colonialism, Culture, and Trade from Alexander the Great to Shapur I, Fergus Millar says that no literature in an Iranian language survives from the entire Parthian period. He adds that there is documentation from the Parthian period, but its scanty and mostly in Greek. Government The government of the Parthian Empire has been described as an unstable, decentralized political system, but also a step in the direction of the first highly integrated, bureaucratically complex empires in Southwest Asia [Wenke]. It was, for much of its existence, a coalition of vassal states with tense relationships among rival ethnic groups. It was also subject to outside pressure from Kushans, Arabs, Romans, and others. To add to this, many well meaning Christians may get involved telling the victim and the family that the problem is a lack of faith. These people may consider depression a spiritual issue and attempt to counsel the person that way. All of these people mean well, but they do not understand the problem. Question: Discuss about theHuman Resource Managementfor International Perspective. Answer: Importance of recruitment and selection in attracting and retaining employees Recruitment refers to a process of attracting, selecting and appointing the candidates in one or more jobs. The candidates who are appointed in the organization can be on a permanent basis or on a temporary basis. The human resource manager of the organization takes into consideration the recruitment and selection process. The candidates who possess the skills and qualities are selected to conduct the operations in the organization. The candidates are also selected for conducting the activities of the business. The focus is given on appointing the candidates for the job opening in the organization. Selection is the method to conduct the interview of the candidates for the specific job. The individual is selected on particular criteria that help the organization to operate the activities in a proper way. It is very difficult to select an appropriate candidate for the organization. There are various laws that should be taken into consideration by the human resource manager to select the candidates for the company (Serrat, 2017). To employ the right candidate for the business is the important aspect of the organization. If the recruitment and selection are done properly then it is seen that the turnover is reduced. Interview and background check helps to employ the candidates who are reliable and also carries a positive attitude towards the work. Recruitment is very important to analyze the skill and talent of an individual. The candidate who is eligible to conduct the day to day activities of the organization is appointed in the organization. To fulfill the job post it is essential to appoint the candidates who possess the required skills and qualification. At the time of recruitment, the company should always mention the exact criteria that are needed for the job. By this the company can easily employ the candidate and also the better results can be attained. The process of interview offers a great opportunity to the candidates so that they can easily work in the organization. The process of interview helps to find the opportunity that is related to the goals and vision of the company. At the time of the interview, it is very necessary to analyze the candidate so that the eligible candidate can be selected for the organization (Sparrow, Brewster Chung, 2016). Recruitment helps the company to attract new and prospective employees to the organization. As it is analyzed that the recruitment is only the step from which the company can analyze the skills and capability of the candidate. The employees are attracted towards the company if the recruitment is open for the organization. If the interview is not conducted then it can create a conflict for the organization to survive in the market, because it is only the process by which the proper analyzes is made of the qualities and skills of an individual (Oladapo, 2014). ecruitment and selection method is significant for an organization so that the goals can be attained in a proper manner. When the right candidates are selected, the employee's will give effective results and will stay in the company for a long term. If the process of selection is not done in a proper manner then it is seen that the employees can make the mistake that can give direct impact on the financial position of the company. It is also seen that the time, of the human resource manager, is wasted when the appropriate candidate is not selected for the job opening. If the right candidate is selected for the job, then it is seen that the employee works with full dedication towards the work. If the candidate who is selected is satisfied with the job, then the organization can effectively retain the employees in the organization. Recruitment and selection is a process that gives focus on identifying, attracting and selecting the candidates who are best for the organization. Recruitment is related to identify the needs of the employees who applied for the job. The recruitment is done on two bases one is related to internal recruitment and the second one is related to external recruitment. The benefits that are seen in the internal recruitment are that it acts as an incentive for the employees who are working in the organization (Gooderham, Morley, Parry Stavrou, 2015). External recruitment is related with the talent of the candidate and also it gives various offers to the candidate who brings various different ideas and experience in the business. Internal recruitment method is an area for the candidate who possesses the qualification. It is a process of collecting the information and also to conduct the job analysis of the candidates. The database of the employees helps the organization to access that the re quired qualification for the job is possessed by an individual or not (George, 2015). Recruitment and selection is a crucial step for the organization, as it seen if the right candidate is not selected for the job then it can create a serious problem for the organization. So it is very important that by conducting proper analyzes the candidate should be selected so that the organization can easily attain the goals and objectives. If the employee who is not interested to work is appointed, then it will give negative impact on the organization (Storey, 2014). Employee retention is also considered as an essential aspect of the organization. It is a method that is taken into consideration by the management to assist the employees to survive for a long term in the organization. This strategy is adopted on a long-term basis. It gives motivation to the employees so that they can survive in the market for the long term and can give their best towards the work. The efforts of the employees should be taken into consideration by the organization so that the growth can be attained in an effective manner. In the recent scenario, it is seen that to retain the employees in the organization it is very important to motivate them to work in an effective manner (Citp Ballaro, 2014). To retain the employees in the organization it is essential that they should be given proper training so that they can work with full dedication. Recruitment and selection is also a process that attracts new talent in the organization and also encourages the candidates to apply in the organization. It is seen that a pool of candidate is attracted towards the company. It also makes a connection with the employers and the employees of the organization. The cost incurred is less and a pool of candidate can be analyzed for giving the job (Breaugh, 2017). If the recruitment is effective enough then it is seen that the company meet all the legal and social obligations that are related to the workforce. It also helps in accessing and preparing the job applicants who are eligible for conducting the operations of the organization. By recruitment, it is analyzed that the organization and the individual effectiveness is enhanced and also there are many sources for all the job applicants. It also helps in enhancing the rate of selection process by minimizing the qualified and unqualified job applicants. It is important for the organization to analyze the candidate, because if proper analyzes are not made then it can create a downfall in the business. Every organization requires the employees who are efficient enough towards the work (Marler Fisher, 2013). The recruitment and selection process assist to minimize the probability that if the candidates are selected then they will not leave the organization, but finding an appropriate candidate is very difficult as there are various competitors in the market. To select and recruit the eligible candidate, it is seen that it is a very difficult task as the future of the business depends upon the workforce or the employees of the organization (Armstrong Taylor, 2014). The main responsibility of the human resource manager is to appoint the candidates who are eligible to operate the activities of the organization. If the vacant position in the organization is not filled then it will give direct impact on the corporate revenue. It is essential to maintain proper work needs and the balance between the employees. It is important for the job recruiter to ensure that the skillful and competent employees are being selected for the job recruitment (Marchington, Wilkinson, Donnelly Kynighou, 2016).If the human resource manager appoints an appropriate candidate for conducting the functions of the organization, then the organization can easily attain the success in the organization. The turnover of the organization is reduced if proper recruitment and selection process is carried out. The right person for the right job should be selected so that the activity can be conducted properly. The interview and background check helps the organization to appoint a can didate who is reliable and can carry out the objectives that the organization planned. So every organization should conduct effective recruitment and selection process. References Armstrong, M., Taylor, S. (2014).Armstrong's handbook of human resource management practice. Ha Jins The Bridegroom and Kazuo Ishiguros A Family Supper

Nowadays, it is becoming increasingly clear to more and more people throughout the world that the ongoing process of Globalization doesn’t only have strictly economic, but also psychological connotations. That is, the earlier mentioned process affects the manner in which individuals perceive the surrounding reality and their place in it.Advertising We will write a custom term paper sample on Ha Jin’s ‘The Bridegroom’ and Kazuo Ishiguro’s ‘A Family Supper’ specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More This, of course, causes many conservatively minded people to criticize Globalization, on account of its assumed capacity to destroy cultural traditions, because the process in question implies the inevitability of unification and standardization. However, while referring to Globalization in negative terms, it is often being the case that these people unintentionally expose the conceptual fallaciousnes s of their own line of argumentation, regarding the Globalization’s counter beneficiary effects. In my paper, I will explore the validity of the above statement at length, in regards to the short stories The Bridegroom by Ha Jin and A Family Supper by Kazuo Ishiguro. Formally speaking, there is nothing new about the issue of a psychological incompatibility between the representatives of older and younger generations, tackled in Jin’s story. After all, it represents a well-known fact that, as compared to what it happened to be the case with young people, their parents tend to be much more conservative. Nevertheless, there can be only a few doubts that there are clearly defined discursive overtones (concerned with Globalization) to The Bridegroom, which in turn imply that there was so much more to the earlier mentioned incompatibility between the character of Old Cheng, on the one hand, and the characters of Beina and Baowen, on the other. The validity of this suggestion will become self-evident, once we analyze what were the innate motivations for Old Cheng to pursue with trying to ensure his adopted daughter’s happiness in the way he did. After all, it is specifically setting Beina up with a husband, so that she could get pregnant and to give birth to children, which Old Cheng considered his foremost duty, as a father: â€Å"When she (Beina) turned twenty-three and still had no boyfriend, I began to worry. Where could I find her a husband? Timid and quiet, she didn’t know how to get close to a man. I was afraid she’d become an old maid† (Jin 472). Given the fact that the story’s plot unravels in China and the fact that Old Cheng appears to have been a rather traditionally minded individual, we can well assume that initially, he used to be a rural-dweller.Advertising Looking for term paper on literature languages? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More He came to the city in search of a better-paid employment and eventually ended up becoming an industrial worker – just as it happened to be the case with millions and millions of people like the character in question, throughout the course of the eighties and nineties. This simply could not be otherwise, because it is namely the abundance of peasants in pre-industrial China, which made it possible for this country to be set on the path of industrialization, in the first place. As sociologists are being well aware of, it this specific category of citizens that traditionally served as the industrialization’s actual ‘fuel’, not only in China but in the rest of currently industrialized nations, such as Britain, the U.S. or Russia, for example.  This provides us with a clue, as to why Old Cheng was strongly driven to marry off Beina at any cost. This is because, despite having relocated to the big city, Old Cheng never ceased being a peasant, in the psychological sense of this word – his persistence in trying to make sure that Beina gets married serves as the best proof to the earlier suggestion’s legitimacy. The reason for this is apparent – people who reside in rural areas, have no other option but to affiliate themselves with agricultural pursuits, as the mean of ensuring their physical survival. Hence, these people’s tendency to indulge in ‘baby-making’, whenever the opportunity presents itself – the more there are children in a particular rural-based family, the better are the chances for this family to enjoy a comparative well-being, as even young children can be successfully turned into agricultural helpers. In big cities, however, there is no dialectically predetermined necessity for people to remain strongly committed to ‘baby-making’, as the realities of an urban living effectively eliminate preconditions for individuals to apply a particularly strong effort into trying to sur vive physically. Because the term ‘Globalization’ is essentially synonymous with the notion of ‘urbanization’, we can well suggest that Old Cheng’s failure in trying to help Beina was thoroughly objective. Even though, as the story’s context implies, this character resided in the big city for a long time, he nevertheless could never adjust to the realities of an urban living. In its turn, this suggests that there is indeed a good reason to think of this person’s existential stance, exposed throughout the story’s entirety, as having been potentially counterproductive. Apparently, Old Cheng was simply incapable of expanding his intellectual horizons – hence, his consistently exhibited perceptual arrogance. The discursive legitimacy of this suggestion can also be illustrated in relation to the theme of homosexuality, prominently featured in The Bridegroom. For example, there is a memorable scene in the story, where Old Cheng refuses to drink milk, poured into the mug for him by Baowen: â€Å"He (Baowen) poured a large mug of mailed milk for both of us, since there was only one mug in the room.Advertising We will write a custom term paper sample on Ha Jin’s ‘The Bridegroom’ and Kazuo Ishiguro’s ‘A Family Supper’ specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More I didn’t touch the milk, unsure whether homosexuality was communicable† (486). This, of course, exposes Old Cheng as having been not an overly bright individual. However, it is not something that could be held against him, but rather the fact that Old Cheng’s attitude towards homosexuality did not change, even after he had a plenty of chances to learn that this ‘disease’ cannot be considered a disease per se, but rather a genetically defined mental condition, that poses no threat to the society, whatsoever. After all, doctor Mai did expla in to Old Cheng what homosexuality is all about: â€Å"Let me say this again: There’s no cure for your son-in-law, Old Cheng, It’s (homosexuality) not a disease. It’s just a sexual preference; it may be congenital, like being left-handed. Got it?† (487). However, even after having learned this, Old Cheng could not help thinking of homosexuality as something morally wicked, because this practice did not make much of a sense in his mind of a primitively thinking peasant: â€Å"If homosexuality is a natural thing, then why are there men and women? Why can’t two men gel married and make a baby?† (488). At the same time, however, Old Cheng remained thoroughly comfortable, while bribing governmental officials with two cigarettes-cartons. Apparently, it never occurred to him to think of bribery as an utterly immoral act. Partially, this explains why, despite corrupted Chinese governmental officials continuing to be sentenced to death, on the accoun t of their bribe-taking practices, the majority of ordinary Chinese citizens (especially those who have been brought in the country) believes that there is nothing wrong about these practices. In fact, in the Chinese language, the very notion of bribe (guanxi) implies its full appropriateness: â€Å"(Guanxi) is the establishment of a connection between two independent individuals to enable a bilateral flow of personal or social transactions† (Yeung and Tung 55). The reason for this is simple – China only recently became an industrialized nation, which is why the majority of people in this country continue to think ‘rurally’ – hence their tendency to give/accept bribes. After all, in order to be able to survive in the rural areas, peasants need to rely on each other, which in turn naturally predispose them towards trying to win each other’s favor.  Therefore, there is indeed a good rationale in believing that the intergenerational conflict, described in The Bridegroom, has been brought about by the process of Globalization (urbanization), which exposes people’s continual endowment with ‘traditional values’, as such that reflects their intellectual inflexibility and consequently – their reduced ability to act as the society’s productive members. What has been said in the paper’s previous sub-chapter, also applies within the context of discussing the themes and motifs, contained in the story Family Supper by Kazuo Ishiguro. This is because, just as it happened to be the case with the earlier discussed story, the roots of the intergenerational conflict in Ishiguro’s story have to do with the fact that, as time goes on, the Globalization-related socio-cultural discourse changes the way in which people perceive the surrounding social reality.Advertising Looking for term paper on literature languages? This is because, by participating in the ceremony of eating this fish, individuals are expected to prove their courageousness. Apparently, they want to be considered as such that does not fear death too much. Simultaneously, however, it reflects these individuals’ lessened ability to appreciate their lives, due to having been ‘trained’ to think of their own and other people’s physical existence; as such that does not necessarily represent the highest value of all. The earlier mentioned ‘training’ usually takes place in rural families with many children. If any of these children dies, his or her parents and siblings do not perceive it in terms of an unbearable loss, as there is still a plenty more left. Given the fact that prior to WW2, Japan was an essentially agrarian cou ntry, the existential attitude, on the part of the narrator’s parents (reflected by their braveness in the face of death), makes a perfectly good sense. After all, the story context implies that they belonged to the ‘war generation’, which means that have been naturally prompted not to put their lives in a particularly high regard. Therefore, there is nothing too odd about the narrator father’s tendency to glorify death, reflected by his favorable remarks, in regards to its former business-partner Watanabe, who after having sustained a bankruptcy, killed himself and its family: â€Å"After the firm’s collapse, Watanabe killed himself. He didn’t wish to live with the disgrace†¦ A fine man.  A man of principle† (Ishiguro 1). Apparently, due to the specifics of its early upbringing and its wartime memories, the narrator’s father did in fact share the illusion that there could be a ‘higher’ purpose to one’ s violent death. This also explains his subtly expressed belief that war is the only effective key to solving seeming unsolvable problems and that one’s willingness to sacrifice its life ‘glorifies’ the concerned individual: â€Å"During the war I spent some time on a ship†¦ But my ambition was always the air force†¦ If your ship was struck by the enemy, all you could do was struggle in the water hoping for a lifeline. But in an airplane – well – there was always the final weapon† (3). The narrator and his sister Kikuko, on the hand, could not have possibly shared their father’s sentiment, in this respect. After all, as the story’s context suggests, both of them had traveled outside of Japan, without having experienced any emotional discomfort, whatsoever. In fact, the story’s narrator appears to have resided in the U.S. for a considerable amount of time, which in turn enlightened him that, due to the realities of the late 20th century’s living, the notion of ethno-patriotism can no longer be considered discursively legitimate. This simply could not be otherwise, because while growing up in economically booming post-war Japan, the narrator and his sister were dialectically predetermined to affiliate themselves with the values of Globalization, as the ‘Earth-flattening’ process. As Ohmae noted: â€Å"The global economy ignores barriers†¦ The traditional centralized nation-state is another cause of friction. It is ill-equipped to play a meaningful role on the global stage† (5). Therefore, even though there can be only a few doubts, as to the fact that both: the narrator and his sister never ceased to respect their father, they nevertheless could never relate to him, in the emotional sense of this word. Apparently, despite the particulars of their ethnic affiliation, they were essentially cosmopolites – thoroughly alienated from what the notion of Ã¢â‚¬Ë œtraditional values’ stands for. This is the reason why Kikuko would never skip a chance lightning up a cigarette, once her father was not around. Nevertheless, unlike what it happened to be the case with the character of Old Cheng in Jin’s story, Ishiguro’s father proved himself intellectually honest enough to consider the possibility that the ‘old ways’, he cherished so much, might have been deprived of a rationale all along. This is exactly the reason why, contrary to the readers’ subliminal expectation, the fish that the narrator’s father prepared for supper, did not turn out to be a poisonous Fugu. There is a memorable conversation that takes place between the narrator and his father at the end of the story, in which the latter does admit that Watanabe’s suicide could never be justified: â€Å"You think what he (Watanabe) did – it was a mistake?’. ‘Why, of course. Do you see it otherwise?’† (4). By saying this, the narrator’s father subtly recognized the sheer wrongness of those virtues, and he used to pursue while young. What has been argued earlier in this paper, suggests that Globalization does not only affect the interrelationships between the representatives of different generations. Instead, it changes the very essence of how young and older people indulge in the socialization with each other. The reason for this is quite apparent – due to the Globalization’s discursive implications, older people can no longer be considered as such that have a plenty of wisdom about them. Yet, this is not because, while addressing different challenges, throughout the course of their lives, the representatives of the older generations had failed at accumulating wisdom, but because what these people know about how the world turns around, does not contain the realization of the fact that humanity is standing on the threshold of a rather dramatic transformation. After all, it is namely during the course of the last few decades (associated with the rise of the Internet) that the pace of the humanity’s socio-cultural and technological progress had attained a clearly defined exponential momentum. What is means is that there are indeed good reasons to believe that, when it comes to identifying the extent of the ethical appropriateness/inappropriateness of currently predominant socio-philosophical discourses, young people will be much more likely to succeed in it, as compared to what would have been the case with their parents or grandparents. Apparently, the very fact that they were born in a time when Globalization started to undermine the soundness of a number of different classical notions/assumptions, in regards to what accounts for the humanity’s actual destiny, in general, and the purpose of one’s life, in particular, makes them cognitively attuned with what would be the ways of the ‘borderless brave world†™. I believe that the earlier deployed line of argumentation, as to the discursive significance of the intergenerational conflict, described in the stories by Jin and Ishiguro, fully correlates with the paper’s initial thesis. The Presentation of Curleys wife in John Steinbecks novel Of Mice and Men

The Presentation of Curleys wife in John Steinbecks novel Of Mice and Men "Of Mice and Men" is not kind in its portrayel of women. In fact, women are treated with contempt throughout the course of the novel. Steinbeck generally depicts women as being troublemakers who bring ruin on men and drive them mad. Curley's wife, who walks the ranch as a temptress, seems to be a prime example of this destructive tendency - Curley's already bad temper has only worsened since their wedding. Aside from wearisome wives, 'Of Mice and Men' offers limited, rather misogynistic, descriptions of women who are either dead maternal figures or prostitutes. The fact that she is not given a name only adds to her lack of status.Despite this Curley's wife does emerge as quite a complex and interesting character. Initially she does appear to be quite a simple character as she is described as having 'got the eye' and being a 'tart'. Again when we see here for the first time it is clear that she is seen as a dangerous, sexual character. The Flood (Of Mice & Men album)Her 'rouged lips', 'red nails' and 'red mules' emphasise her dangerous role. Her negative description is furthur developed with the ironic cutting off of the light, foreshadowing her role in destroying everyone's dreams and Lennie's life. We are encouraged to dislike her as she acts provocatively towards the men and behaves inappropriately for a male dominated, ranch environment. George's comment that she is 'jail bait' furthur ensues that we see her as a danger, particularly as he almost predicts Lennie's future entanglement. We only begin to see her in more depthand feel sympathy for her when she shows her obvious fear for Curley when she becomes 'apprehensive' at the mention of him looking for her. This made me begin to wonder about and that she may be more than just a 'tart'.

Theology of Missions Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Theology of Missions - Research Paper Example According to the genesis 45 and 50, Joseph was never keen to revenge, rather he was swift to delivery him people from trouble. This is the making of any missionary sent by God in the history of the bible. Joseph confessed that what his brothers intended to evil, God intended for good to deliver the children of Israel from the danger of famine. This means that Joseph was commissioned by God to save the children1. The Old Testament records that for as long as Joseph was the prime minister, the children of Israel lived in Goshen, and had quality life. The role of Moses is crucial in the role of missions as accounted for in the holy bible. Prophet Moses was a leader sent by God to carry out an expansive mission to deliver the children of Israel from Egypt. Moses became the voice of God to the Jewish people. Moses had a special purpose to counter the Egyptian gods and the tyranny of pharaoh. According to exodus chapter 12, God clearly sent Moses. This indicates that Moses was a missionary acting to represent the purposes of God. His was also to deliver a living God to Israelites in Egypt. Moses was explicit to the Egyptian authority on who sent him and His mission. According to Deuteronomy, Moses’ exhortatory appeal to the children of Israel stressed on the need to obey God and the divine law. New Testament According to Mathew 28, from verse 20 Jesus commissioned His disciples to preach the gospel. This text indicates the desire of the Lord Jesus to have His kingdom spread by the disciples and those who believe in His words. Jesus explained to role of the trinity in the great commission. Jesus commissioned disciples to make other disciples around the world. The text exposes a passionate desire for Jesus to have a generation believers to carry out His mission in His physical absentia. The disciples were empowered and legally duty bound to win souls to the kingdom of God. This was God’s plan of salvation. Act1:8 explains that the desire of Jesus to have the kingdom spread from Jerusalem to Judea, Samarian and the uttermost parts of the earth. This is a New Testament text that relates to mission. Jesus explained that His sole desire was to have the world evangelized through mission work. The text explained that Jesus was focused on winning souls across the world through mission initiatives. Later, in an encounter with Saul, Jesus said he was a chosen vessel to bear His name. How the nature of God relates to mission theology It is evidently vivid the nature of God related to missions. The house of Israel was termed as the people of God. Therefore, they were the object of God’s lessons to other nations. God spoke and explicitly intended the nations to know His might by considering His dealings with Israel2. According to Deuteronomy chapter 8, God had promised that he would lift the nation of Israel above all other nations on the face of the earth. In the sight of gentile nations, God wanted to be seen as both living and Holy, ( Isaiah 61:9-11). The nature of God is revealed to the non-believers by the quality of life seen in those who are called by His Name. This is the reason God offered both blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience. The blessings indicated the desire for God to reveal His might through making the nation mighty and

FAMILY VIOLENCE AND ABUSE Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

FAMILY VIOLENCE AND ABUSE - Essay Example He also threatened to injure maim her. The historical and the current standing posed beyond doubt that Marcia’s life was in great jeopardy and she needed redemption. The case also fulfills the requirement that the aggressor is not the defendant. The deceased aggressed the defendant’s myriad times thus attributing to the retaliation by his wife, Marcia. The obligation of applying just sufficient force in the defense as required by the law was not achievable because the husband threats were recurrent and he would justice only she shut her up for good. Marcia Norman option to end the life of her husband was pegged on her mission to save her life-perfect self-defense, and therefore was legally right. The eminent past and continuous history of mal-abuse by her husband would not allow limited room for her right of freedom from harm (Leverick, 2009). The courts would factually consider immense psychological distress and trauma that Marcia had undergone. According to a witness from the case, after she was asked whether she thought it was correct for Marcia to shoot her husband, she admits that from the examination and the assessment of her records and psychological files, it was exclusively fine for her to do so. She adds that Norman Marcia assumed herself doomed from the torture she endured from her husband. She had a perception of persecution ahead due to the immense social degradation and demeaning that her husband accorded her, and recognized that her death was probably not avoidable in future. The witness also notes the fact that Ms Marcia had attempted suicide before and there was a conviction that she would not succeed in her struggle against her unwavering husband. The witness notes that she believed that the defendant had grown insecure to an extent that he could not have any sense of attachment to her family. She could not run away from the deceased due to his immense power and

The three generations of currency crises models

The three generations of currency crises models Explain the three generations of currency crises models. What are the implications of the escape clause model? According to a classification system of International monetary fund we can divide economic crisis to currency crisis, banking crisis, systemic financial crisis, debt crisis. From among these, in words of Jeffrey Frankel, we define a currency crash as a depreciation of the nominal exchange rate of at least 25 per cent that is also at least a 10 per cent increase in the rate of nominal depreciation [1] This crisis is big problem itself because it makes trade condition worse and bring many negative effects to economy of the inside and outside of the country. Not only that but also currency crisis can occasion financial crisis. East Asias crisis in 1997 is the case of financial crises which is caused by currency crisis. So for the sake of prevent financial crisis we should know about currency crisis model. Before 70s there were also explain model about currency crisis. But krugmans model realized the theorical condition of when fixed exchange rate system is collapsed and offered basic paradigm of currency crisis model. So we can define it as a first generation model. In first generation models, it thought economy fundamentals worse is the origin of currency crisis. Fundamentals worse example is low growth, insufficiency of foreign currency, budget deficit. More exactly, unsustainable money financed fiscal deficits lead to a persistent loss of international reserves and ultimately ignites a currency crash [2], because people try to sell domestic currency to buy foreign currency. So far as, financial obligations that caused by national bonds issuing is the speculative attacks root. On the other hand, first generation models meaning is government policy need consistency to control risk of currency crisis possibility. It means fixed exchange rate system cant stainable because that policy t ry to keep exchange rate (domestic currencys value) with induce inflation (domestic currency values fall) by issuing national dept and it is not consistency policy. And it will be controlled by invisible hand. This model has significance that it can explain middle-south Americas currency crisis repetition at beginning of 1980. But as obstfeld said, we should argue that one cannot adequately understand recent European currency experience in terms of krugmans model [3]. From 1992 to 1993, European Exchange Rate Mechanism (ERM) countries suffered fatal currency crisis. Even they had compact and stable fundamental condition. To put it more concretely, in spite of they could obtain funds easily from global finance market and even these countries maintain stability of inflation level crisis happened. So obstfeld produced self-fulfilling crisis model which can call second generation model for explain European Monetary System Crisis, which could not explained by First Generation Model. At first generation model, speculation was just accelerator for crisis which will happen sometime or another. But at second generation model suggested a potential for crises that need not have occurred, but that do occur because market participants expect them to. [4] In other words, expectation about governments policy that government will devaluate domestic currency induce crisis because they sale currency first. We can imagine this is big sized case of bank run. So this model indicated speculation can make collapse of currency market and this is the reason why this model is self-fulfilling crisis model. In addition, second generation model indicates the situation of multiple equilibrium which means foreign exchange markets equilibrium point when occurs collapse of market is not only one and it can have many point and situation that can cause collapse and it determined by strength of market expectation. However it doesnt mean the second generation model ignores fundamental base. Because new second model changed theres theory to give weight to fundamental base. This is Escape clause model. More exactly, it will means currency crisiss reason will be various collate of fundamental fluent and market expectations strength. But despite of development of first generation model, second generation model and new second generation model, we can encounter with currency crisis that cant explain by these old models. Mexico and Asias crisis is one of these cases. They didnt have clearness weakness fundamental base as like dept or inflation. So it cannot explain by first generation model. Moreover, in this case governments devaluation led recession, not an expansion. So it has problem to explain by second generation model. So currency crisis model which is focused on reason of recession, especially foreign currency debt is third generation model. With third generation in Asias crisis, to help private companys foreign loan, governments issued national bonds to prepare subsidy. But it made unexpected happening, value falling of domestic currency and exchange ratio rise. So even same amount in foreign currency, debt became huge value in domestic currency. So government should issue more bonds to solve loan. And it made vicious circle. Finally, governments foreign currency reserve be gone while try to keep monetary exchange rate even it is going down. And Mexicos case is almost same except someone who is in debt was government. But interesting point is, some economist suggest that we can explain Mexico and Asias currency crisis by first generation model or second generation model. It will have same meaning with what escape clause model implies; All currency crisis will have at least fundamental basic element and self-fulfilling fact .surely and so on. And not only these three model which explained at this essay there are also many kinds of model for explain various types of currency crisis. For example, there are moral hazard model, financial panic model, boom-bust cycle model etc. I think existence of various types of explain model means there are lots of source for currency crisis. It can be mixed reason also. Also there will be currency crisis that cannot explain by existing model, because it caused by reason that we could not think or the reason is totally new one. But on the other hand, we should think about fundamental fact and market expectation which is basic fact of currency crisis. With this process, currency crisis model will develop continue.
